Privacy Policy

E-commerce Market Central ("we," "us") runs this website, including Garage Sale Central, a tool for finding garage, yard, estate and moving sales in Southern California and planning a route between them. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Information we handle
Your location
If you allow it, your browser shares your approximate location so we can show nearby sales. You choose this in your browser's permission prompt and can turn it off at any time in your browser settings. Instead, you can type a ZIP code, city or address.
- Sorting and filtering sales by distance happens in your browser.
- When you plan a trip, the coordinates of your starting point and chosen stops are sent to our server and to Google Maps Platform to calculate drive times. We do not store them.
- When you type a street address, that text is sent to our server and to Google's address lookup to find it on the map. We do not store it.
Information saved on your own device
The site saves your settings and current trip (such as your search radius and chosen stops) in your browser's local storage so they are still there next time. This stays on your device; we cannot see it. You can clear it by clearing your browser's site data.
Technical information
Like any website, our server receives your IP address and basic browser information with each request. We use the IP address only for a few minutes, to stop any one visitor from sending too many requests, and we do not keep our own log of it. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes this information to deliver and protect the site, as described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
If you post a sale (when posting is available)
- Email address: to sign in, we email you a one-time link. Your email is used for sign-in and important notices about your account or listings. It is not shown publicly.
- Your listing is public. The title, sale type, street address, city, ZIP code, map pin, item categories, description, dates, times and photos you add are shown to everyone who uses the site, so only include what you are comfortable sharing.
- Reports: if you report a sale as ended, wrong or unsafe, we record the report with your account so the same report isn't counted twice.
- Saved trips: if you are signed in, your current trip can be saved to your account so it follows you between devices.
How we use it
Only to run the site: showing sales, planning routes, letting people post and manage sales, preventing abuse and spam, and keeping the service secure. We do not use your information for advertising and we do not build profiles of you.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, as California law defines those terms. We use these service providers, only to run the site:
- Cloudflare hosts the website and our server.
- Google Maps Platform calculates drive times and finds typed addresses. Google's handling of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts provides the site's typeface, so your browser contacts Google to load it.
- Supabase will store accounts and posted sales once posting is available.
When you tap "Start Navigation," your route opens in Google Maps or Apple Maps, and their own privacy policies apply there. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.
How long we keep it
Route and address lookups are not stored. Posted sales stop being shown publicly after their last sale date. Listings, reports and saved trips are kept until you delete them or your account, and we may remove old ended listings sooner. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete its listings, reports and saved trips.
Your choices and California privacy rights
You can use Garage Sale Central without an account and without sharing your location. If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we have about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We extend these rights to every user. To make a request, email us from the address on your account (if you have one). We will confirm your request and respond within 45 days.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Posting a sale requires being 18 or older. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), keep our Google key on our server rather than in web pages, and limit what each account can read and change. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what we hold.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. For significant changes, we will post a notice on the site.
